General Liability
What it covers.
General liability is the baseline policy most contracts, leases and customers ask for first. It responds when someone outside the company is hurt, or their property is damaged, because of your premises or operations.
For contractors and manufacturers the detail is in the endorsements: additional insured status for the prime and the government, waiver of subrogation, and primary and non-contributory wording. We confirm those match the contract before the certificate goes out.
Typically covers
- Bodily injury to people outside the company
- Damage to property that belongs to others
- Personal and advertising injury
- Medical payments for minor injuries on your premises
- Legal defense costs
What we check
- Additional insured wording for primes and the government
- Waiver of subrogation and primary, non-contributory terms
- Products and completed operations limits
- Exclusions for aircraft, firearms or professional services
By sector
How it applies to your sector.
Unmanned Systems & Counter-UAS
Standard GL usually excludes aircraft, so flight operations need aviation liability alongside it.
Defense & Government Contractors
Most prime contracts set the GL limits and the exact endorsement wording.
Firearms & Ammunition
Premises and ranges are rated on their own, apart from products.
Defense Software & Cyber
Often required alongside tech E&O in customer and prime contracts.
Communications & Space
Covers installation work on customer sites, towers and vehicles.
